Jehovah's Witnesses 2014 Convention Plans Not Finalized

Posted: Updated:

KENNEWICK, Wash.- The Christian Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses or CCJW have met annually in the Tri-Cities for a number of years, but next year's plans have not yet been finalized.

This weekend's convention will be conducted almost entirely in Spanish. The next two conventions this month will be in English. With recent reports from local media that the conventions will not be held here in 2014, we decided to ask some of the organizers of the convention to confirm. They told us they weren't sure where those sources were coming from. While plans have not yet been made they say nothing has been finalized.

"We're confident that the Jehovah's Witnesses will be celebrating conventions in 2014 as we have now in 2013, but we don't have any of the details yet as to those arrangements for next year," said Rodger Fristad, one of the convention administrators.

The conventions are always big business for the Tri-Cities. This year will bring in over 16,000 visitors and over 8.5 million dollars in direct visitor spending.

Today 40 to 60 people will be baptized into the faith. The last two conventions will be held over the course of the next two weekends.
